I couldn’t believe to have received such an overwhelming response from friends I knew from the blogosphere as well as friends I knew personally. I received overwhelming comments on my previous entry, I choose. I decided not to approve some of the comments because some of them are too personal. lol. ![]()
What is really the Quarter Life Crisis?
I scoured the web to find the meaning of QLC and most of the documents I’ve come acrossed with do have the same meaning. Most of them are so confusing that I decided to make my own.
Here goes…
THE QUARTER LIFE CRISIS.
This stage usually occurs during a person’s quarter life (of course!) and this is usually during mid to late 20’s. This is also a stage when a lot of people start developing a greater realistic outlook in life. Consequently, it is a stage when a person starts feeling they haven’t accomplished important things in their lives. This may also be the stage that most of us tends to regret the decisions we’ve made in high school, college and even after graduation. Some people respond to the QLC by making rush decisions and stepping into landmark goals like getting married, moving into a new house, being independent, having kids, and even quitting their jobs. This could also be because most of their friends have accomplished so much and they’re worried they may be too late to achieve their goals. It may also be because they’re afraid that if they don’t achieve any of their goals by a certain age (i.e. 28), they may never get the chance to. In addition, some people respond to this stage by being depressed and even blaming others for their failures.
Some people experiencing the QLC starts feeling insecure and wonder where they’ll be in a year or two, but then are afraid because they barely know where they are now. Some start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, the friends they have now are not the greatest people to be with and those friends they lost in touch with are the greater ones.
People would look into their jobs and start realizing it’s not even close to what they thought would be doing or looking. They would even tend to look for jobs elsewhere but are scared to start from scratch.
During this stage a person begins to understand themselves and what they want and do not want. Their opinions have gotten stronger. They tend to overjudge others and see that they have more value than what they have now.
What they do not realize is that this stage is not uncommon to everyone. Everyone can relate to this. People tend to get through this life crisis when they realise that a lot of people feel the same way and or on the same situation. So, they have plenty of people to talk to and share their sentinents. Some get through this stage when they also realise that perhaps some of their dreams are a bit too unrealistic and that they’re just getting a regular reality check. Once they realise that life never really let them down, they would move on.
and the bottomline is…
We all have our fair share of good times and bad times. We are in our best and worst at times. Trying hard to figure a way out and with the right amount of courage and strength, accompanied with our best buddies and friends, we all can get through this.
