July 31, 2009, Friday – SM City Cebu unveiled another innovation in its quest to be, consistently, the premier mall destination for Cebuanos. SM City formally launched their Free Wifi Access with a program graced by celebrity DJ Nikki Taylor on the mix, a special presentation by Hardwood (a latin and flaminco music band), games and trivia, and food courtesy of Krazy Krepes. Just like any other SM mall in the Philippines, SM City Cebu provides the free mall-wide internet access to everyone with any wifi-enabled device.
This venture, I’d say, is a great step taken by the SM City Cebu management to attract more shoppers and consequently revenue generation. The Free Wifi Access was initially launched at the SM City Cebu Northwing Atrium and by August 4 – it’ll be mall-wide. The launch was hosted by Cebu’s top radio DJ’s (one of which is Paolo Walker). There was also live radio coverage on a Cebu FM Radio Station. A live video streaming to / with SM Iloilo was also shown on the stage’s projector. Games and Prices were at stake during the launch. The PhotoBlog entries were also showcased. An event website was also days before the official launch: SM City Cebu Free Wifi.
Once again, the renowned Cebu Bloggers Society covered the event in very strong numbers. Select CBS members were given the complimentary T-shirts and got the front row couch during the event launch. 2 CBS members bagged the PhotoBlog Contest – 1st Prize – Sinjin Pineda (HP Mininote 2113); 2nd Prize – Jose Farrugia (Samsung Jet S8003 Mobile Phone). Congratulations mates! I would have won the surf-the-web trivia contest (Which SM Mall offered the first free wifi access in the Philippines?), if not for my laptop. LOL. SM City Marikina by the way is the answer. And oh – I almost forgot, another Cebu-based organization graced the event with great numbers too! – PSP Cebu.
So, head now to SM City Cebu and experience the fast internet access on the go – while shopping, of course!.
