August 21, 2009 – The Cebu Bloggers Society took another step in promoting Cebu to the rest of the world. We coined the activity Cebu Bloggers Society goes Cebu Heritage Tour. The activity was also in support to Mr. LaagCebu.com’s environmental awareness campaign.
It has been weeks since we started planning the activity and it just so happen that the day we agreed for the tour was a holiday. Though the activity was primarily a tour to some of Cebu’s heritage and historical sites we also made it a point to promote, through photos and videos, environment awareness. The tour started off at Basilica del Sto. Niño. JanMack and Ken Jesryl delivered their short lines here like pro. It was Agnes’ turn to be in front of the camera a few meters away from the Basilica at the historical Magellan’s Cross with her lines carried out smoothly. A walking distance from the Magellan’s Shrine, Louie aka Rabsin carried out his line with the newly renovated Cebu City Hall in the background.
The group moved from the city hall towards the one of the oldest streets in the Philippines – Colon Street. It was here Sir Timoy delivered his line effectively. Right after a few takes in one of cebu’s busiest streets, the group took a jeepney towards the eye-catching Cebu Capitol building. It was here when yours truly rendezvoused with the rest of the Cebu Bloggers. Bryan Karl took a few takes to perfectly deliver his lines because we were all busy taking pictures and talking at the same time. He didn’t know (I guess!), by the way, that despite our unruly behavior we were already planning a surprise on his special day. When Bryan Karl had his line faultlessly delivered in front of Clado’s camera we all moved towards the Palace of Justice for Atty. Ethelbert’s shoot. He animatedly conveyed his lines and it was pretty quick.
It was past noon we were all headed towards Larsians for our Lunch. Kai and I took a quick detour for the surprise we’re planning. Right after the detour we already on our way to Larsians and to pacify our stomachs.
It was Bryan Karl’s Birthday. I am not sure though if he had any idea that the detour Kai and I had was for his birthday cake. Like any other traditional birthday celebration we made sure Bryan blows *ahem* blows the candle in front of the camera. Thanks by the way to VanJohnn and Winston for taking care of the lunch bill.
By 2pm we were headed towards the Fuente Circle for VanJohnn’s camera shot. Despite my lack of sleep and a growing threat of having an attitude problem at work due to the former (I have work shift that night!), I summoned the strength to keep up to the group’s excitement. I was more than ready for my lines when Clado’s camera went battery empty on me while shooting at the overpass overlooking Fuente Circle and Jones Avenue. Damn. We needed a place to rest while charging the camera’s battery and (accommodating as he is) VanJohnn offered their Pharmacy for us to quench our thirst and relax our tired muscles. We all took a rest for an hour or so I guess. I could no longer keep up the excitement plastered on my face so Atty. Ethelbert decided that the rest of the group should proceed to Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces while I, Atty. Ethelbert, Agnes, and Clado will shoot my line in Asiatown IT Park. I was, again, more than ready for my line but we rudely unprofessionally reprimanded by a Security Officer of Asiatown IT Park asking for an issued permit to shoot. What the – !? I don’t see the logic of having one besides isn’t Asiatown IT Park now considered a public place? Oh damn. We moved towards the inner blocks of the IT Park and shot my lines in a 180 pan scene. It only took me a few takes to deliver the lines however I am not sure though if it was delivered effortlessly. I went home after that. The rest of the Cebu Bloggers rendezvoused at Ayala Center Cebu’s Terraces where Kevin brought out his lines. Oh by the way, something unfortunate happened to Agnes which I’d rather not discuss here. And that concluded our Cebu Heritage Tour.
OOPS! My bad, it was not concluded that day. There’s was day 2 of the activity which will be another entry – I hope.
