The Pink October Run
October 4, 2009 – Less than 12 hours from the recently concluded and successful Aboitizland Community Tour I had to wake up and get ready for an early 5k run. Oh well, not just any ordinary fun run but it’s for the benefit of the PCS-CEV Breast Clinic Outreach Program (Philippine College of Surgeons – Cebu-Eastern Visayas Chapter). Dubbed as the Pink October Run; it featured 3 courses – 3K, 5K, and 10K plus an amazing 3-flyover run challenge. The course started and ended at the Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.
It was a great Sunday for everyone, I guess. The weather was cooperating with the sun smiling gently over Metro Cebu. Setting the mood of the runners, a quick dance warm-up was geared up in tune of the song “Insomnia” by Craig David (if my memory serves me right). It was already a few minutes past 6 in the morning when everyone started to run. I, on the other hand, was busy running through my 5K-run course with the iPod banging loudly into my ears. It didn’t take long for me to forget that I have friends running too! haha! Sorry guys!
Well, everyone got back to the finish line safe and sound – I guess. And I forgot how many minutes it took me to finish the course – damn, oops sorry! The awarding ceremony was held inside the Ayala Center Cebu’s Terraces coupled with free food and beverages for the runners. Awards were given to the Top 3 male and female runners in the 10K and 5K runs. Special Awards were also given to the Top 3 runners in the 10K Doctor’s category.
I, uh I mean, we all finished our respective courses. Cheers to everyone who participated…until the next run.
