On Lull Mode

Whew! It’s been over a month since the last time I posted something on this blog. Now it feels strange to type in my thoughts. It feels weird, as if like it’s going to be my first time writing an entry. Oh well, this too shall pass. Just about the same time last year I felt the need to abandon blogging altogether but then I decided just to veer away from that decision. Instead I went on a respite.

November came and went. I didn’t even know it’s already December not until I checked my calendar today (that’s a downside of working for an outsourced company, you don’t seem to check the time and date).  Yes, November came and went – You see, I went on a two-week training which literally cut me off the web but it was awesome, I’ve met new friends and the training equipped us with the skills and knowledge required for the future – LOL, seriously. Well, that’s just one of the many factors which made my status on a Lull. Let me cite the ones with the bigger weights –

  • Damn Plugins – The OC (Obsessive-Compulsive) that I am has a lot of plugins installed to my every bidding. I have 50+ plugins. Yes, I have 50+ and I am serious. Though I am not really using all of them but everything is Active. So when WP asked me to upgrade to their latest WP version I did so without thinking and poof! my CMS went crazy. I couldn’t move the widgets nor even publish an entry. I went ballistic and thought it has something to do with my browser. I reinstalled the browser and still it didn’t work. I used a different browser and I still couldn’t figure out what’s wrong. I even resorted to asking help from my host’s technical support and they too were unable to figure it out. Then last week it occurred to me to totally start from scratch. I went on backing up all my entries and all uploaded media. I went on deactivating all plugins and deleted them one by one. Half-way through the deletion process I checked the widgets options to back-up my customised codes when out of nowhere I was able to move them. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I tried to publish an entry and it went pretty well. I still deleted all the plugins and installed the most important ones. Until now I still couldn’t figure out which plugin was the culprit. I’m glad the problem now is history.
  • Sleep Deficiency – Yes, for the past few weeks I am only getting a couple of hours of sound sleep. I wouldn’t even consider it as sound sleep because by the time I wake up I wonder if I ever slept at all.  Though I have been on a 2AM schedule for quite some time but I guess I still need to get more comfortable with it and adjust my body clock appropriately. Oh well, in life we have to make sacrifices.
  • Work Stuff – The demands of working for a BPO Company is tough. Ask those who have the experience and the day won’t be enough.
  • Yearning to go home – Now that the holiday season is just around the corner I am looking forward to spending this year’s Christmas at home with my family and close friends. It has been four months since the last time I was home and I really need to be home because it’ll be my brother’s wedding. I shouldn’t miss that.

These are just but four reasons why I had to be in hiatus and I am not even sure if I’d still continue to be on the same. We’ll see about that. Oh crap! I’m reminded again – it’s December! Let’s all be Merry! Cheers to everyone
