Yes, Climate Change is this year’s Blog Action Day topic and despite my urge to blog about my Birthday and the plans this weekend let me put in my good heart instead.

To start off, let me point out 3 suggestions, which I know will not be that hard, to help combat Climate Change.

• Move Closer to the Office – Oh well, you might wonder what does this have to do with Climate Change but you see everytime we go to work, we travel and traveling requires transportation. We all know that Transportation is a leading factor in green house gas emissions. That’s true. Well, if we get closer to work or even use public transportation the less we emit green house gases. Simple.
• Unplug Unnecessary Stuffs – The more appliances and gadgets we have the more we use electricity or lets just say POWER. It’s basic – if we don’t use it then turn it off. Another thing is, we might want to consider purchasing energy-efficient gadgets. Small things also make a difference.
• Shop Less – Well, shopaholics might tell me WTH? Okay, I’m a shopaholic too and I’ve read it somewhere that the more you spend the more products are introduced to you (and the cycle goes on) and producing these products requires energy…simple. Keyword: Regulate purchases.

These are just but small things but collectively – it’ll make a difference.

Not that I am complaining because I am getting older (and wiser too!) but rather I am anxious on what will be in store for me in the next few years. A couple years ago I started recounting the memoirs of the year prior to my natal day. Now it’ll be my third year to recount and write what I have achieved in the past year of my existence, but oh wait… I still have to look for that journal somewhere (not online though). LOL.

For those who have the heart generous enough to give me something as a gift below are things I wanted. Take note, wanted. Let me also rally out the reasons why.

Plane Tickets Homeward Bound: You see it has been 3 years, wait – make that 4 years, since I celebrated my birthday with my family. I miss the times when I traditionally make a wish and blow the candle in front of the family and few close friends. Though I already have close friends here in Cebu but nothing beats to friends I have back home. Just imagine the friends you knew since childhood. Friends who know you inside-out. Friends you played with when you were still playing dirt along the neighborhood roads. If you have that generous heart you can buy, uhm, give me this as a gift. Besides a roundtrip ticket will only cost you about $50. It’s not that much, right? I accept PayPal donations, by the way.

Digital Camera: Well for those who didn’t know yet, let me give you an idea to the fate of my little purple digital camera. You see I went to Sumilon Island with friends from the blogosphere when this huge wave took me off balance while taking a shot and dragged me to hell, I mean, ashore. Like I said the wave took me off guard and I didn’t know I already soaked my little purple digital camera in seawater. Again, Seawater. Now, the camwhore that I am is left without a camera to take self-portraits. It’s sad, really sad. I want a camera, okay. A high-end one is preferable but if someone will give me any, okay any, digital camera, I’d gladly accept it. Who declines a gift by the way? Not me. Again, please contact me if you have that generous heart.

A New Pair of Shoes: Yes. I want a new pair of shoes. A pair of running shoes perhaps. LOL. Though I still have a few good pairs but a new one is always a good addition into my collection. Haha! I used to be a runner in high school but I lost interest in track and field when I got a sprained ankle during one of my school’s Sports Fest. Lately, I started to get interest into running again and I even participated into a Fund Run last year. Haha! Well, if a pair of running shoes is too much then a pair of sneakers would suffice. Or any kind of nice shoes, for that matter, would suffice. If you can give me this humble request (as a gift of course) then please send me a message here.

NetBook: Though I have a less-than-a-year-old Dell Laptop, an addition to my gadget collection is always welcome. A Netbook is a perfect fit, I’d say. Well, given that I maintain a blog or let me say blogs I need to be internet-ready when the blog juice starts oozing. Haha! There are a few good cheap netbooks out in the market and anyone can afford it. So please?

I could go on and on and on listing down the things I want. In fact, these are just few of the things I wanted on my birthday. And since I cannot afford them…I am asking your (you, who’s reading this!) help, financially. It’s always good to share one’s blessings, right? Teheee…So, I am expecting a message, okay? Cheers! LOL.

Really, All I want is World Peace.

Getting away from the city’s stressful environment has been on my What To Do List for the past few weeks. And when a friend invited me and the whole gang for a weekend birthday trip I never had second thoughts and gave out a loud YES. In fact, I had to ditch a prior commitment just to take the trip and detoxify away from the city.

June 20, 2009; Saturday. It was almost 11:30am when the group met over at CitiLink for the trip to Dumanjug, Cebu – a 2 hour drive down South of Cebu City. We were 4 hours behind the original schedule – thanks to a few good friends. We took the V-Hire (Vehicle for Hire) and though most of us were tired, sleepy and hungry these were all forgotten by the raucous laughter over at everything we got to talk about.

It was almost 2pm when the group finally arrived in Dumanjug, Cebu. This time we were already too hungry that we could hear our stomachs complaining. Our friend took this as a cue and prepared us a very hearty meal. Right after the heavy lunch we headed over outside for the anticipated Videoke session with a few ice-cold beer in hand.

By 5pm we were all sober that we decided to take a quick break and stroll to a few good eye-catching places in Dumanjug. We went over to Dumanjug’s famous and historic church, strolled over the town’s Executive building, ran care-free over the lush green grounds, played like youngsters on their colorful playgrounds, took some sunset photos in their unique bay-walk, and ate their sweet Ice cream halo-halo while watching the sky turn dark blue.

It was already 8pm when we were all headed back to our friend’s crib for another hearty dinner – Tinolang isda. By 9pm we were again sitting in front of the videoke machine singing and drinking. By midnight, we all went wild and sang our hearts out to the tune of Happy Birhtday! It was 3am when we called  it a night and settled over in a crowded air conditioned room. Haha!

By 9am we woke up and decided to take plunge in Dumanjug’s Olympic Pool. It was past 10am when the rest of the gang arrived from the city. Negz, Dhon, Borj, and Freya joined the first batch (Yours truly, Joeffrey, Shola, and Bebs) of Birthday trippers.

We walked back to Maeia’s crib for the anticipated heavy lunch and we all ate like lions devouring a freshly killed buffalo. By 1pm we headed to the nearby town of Moalboal for quick sea-water adventure. We played beach volleyball which gave us a few cuts and bruises but it’s all worth it. By nightfall we were headed back to the city and back to reality.

Though it was a very quick trip down south, it was all worth it. It was fun, fun, and FUN.

It was DETOXIFYING!

Another detoxifying trip is brewing up! 2 weeks.

Anyway, before I go and celebrate my beerday, I mean birthday today let me just pour in 10 things I’ve learned through the years.

1. Never trust anyone except the one above.
2. Friends come in different packages.
3. It’s not the paycheck that matters but the knowledge you learn.
4. Attitude supercedes Altitude.
5. Patience will always and always be a virtue.
6. Love will always fade.
7. Your Family will always be your savior
8. There’s no such thing as secrets.
9. The Greatest BFF is yourself.
10. Life is short so live it as if it’s your last

Oh well, another year means I’m getting mature – or am I?

Life’s been pretty much hard on me this past year. I had to let go a lot of opportunities. I had to make a lot of sacrifices. I had to endure a lot of pains. But I guess it’s all worth it – I definitely had fun.

Cheers to me…and for the years to come…

Get A Life
